(OCTOBER XX) Ambivalence

Today was a day full of fun with Mom, Dad, Casey, and many friends, with the main attraction the Huskers / Wildcats game. Obviously, I was ambivalent toward the result, other than hoping for a good game.

I sure got one! The Wildcats had leads of 11 and 12 points, but the Huskers answered each time, and the ‘Cats had another aggravating fourth quarter collapse. As a Husker fan, it was exhilarating, especially since I was sitting mostly with Husker fans. As a Wildcats fan, it was a punch in the gut. Granted, both teams had a lot of deficiencies in their play.

It is great to be ambivalent, but at the same time the games pitting two of your teams against each other have the unfortunate fact that there must be a winner and a loser.

Interestingly, that makes the home team now 0-2 in this football series with Nebraska in the Big Ten.

It has been a long day of tailgating, football, and dinner. Time to hit the hay… but maybe I will journal a bit first.

Today is the twentieth day of O.C.T.O.B.E.R. That makes two weeks and six days.
