[M.M.X.I.V. 131 / M.A.P.L.E. III-11] Rhythm of My Heart

Today’s post will give a memory related to the song that popped up.  Interestingly, it’s another calculus reference–so this is obviously Calculus Weekend for the music!  It’s a fairly short post, so I will not use the “More” tag on this one.

As I mentioned yesterday, my lecture style can sometimes have me running on the loose.  Many times, when I listen to music, it is either on the radio or on shuffle from my own music.  There were a couple of salient times when I heard “Rhythm of My Heart” just before an exam.  In particular, I was listening to Star 104.5 (KSRZ-Omaha) when I was driving downtown for my final exam in multivariable calculus back in 2004.  This song came on the air while I was driving.

The awareness of your heart’s rhythm says something about your general awareness of yourself!  I was not particularly nervous about this test, and it must have turned out all right, as I finished with an “A” in the course.  However, when I needed to recall the material several years later, it was a little bit of a struggle.  Math techniques may follow an Ebbinghausian forgetting curve. 😦

This song has also popped up at other times when I have had a test, although I cannot recall any salient examples off the top of my head.
