Last week, I noticed a typo on a poster that said “SPOLIER ALERT: The results are terrible.” I had to give the writer a hard time about that, and it brought up an interesting discussion about creating spell-check programs.

However, the interesting thing is the following: Microsoft Word’s spell-checker appears to ignore words in all capital letters, thinking that they are always acronyms.

I saw another poster recently, and it suffers from the transposition error that was not caught by Microsoft Word (my assumption) for the same reason!

When would Spetember 2017 be?

Maybe the time when one takes some sparks from a fire like one would take a rock in the 1980s…

But seriously, you probably are wondering about the title of the post.

Well, I’ve just transposed the third and fourth syllables of the word “transposition.” Therefore, pronounce it as “trans-potion-zit.”

Ooh, a potion! Shall I drink it? What magic will it create?
