I get to be quite meta in my post today, because the picture that I will show you is a picture from “behind the curtain.” And it’s yet another annoying formatting thing, that seems to come up periodically on my blog… contrast “Beep-beep-boop” or “Reader interface.”
The last two days have had me playing the OOPS game. Yesterday in the morning, yesterday in the afternoon, and today at night. Here are the photos, followed by a quick synopsis of what they mean.
This photo is my toaster oven, after charring three pieces of challah toast. It sent smoke through my kitchen, but because I opened all windows and turned on the stove fan, the smoke alarm didn’t go off. Phew!
And then I ate those pieces of charcoal. They weren’t half-bad!
This picture comes from my office, five minutes ago. (Obviously, it’s hard to make anything out since it’s night-black… I turned off the lights to avoid the glare.)
What happened here? Naturally, what happened is that I was at the office late.
Yesterday, I tried to go to US Bank to cash a check, thinking that they were open until 17:30.
I arrived at 17:05, and the door says “Hours: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.”
D’OH! There’s my second OOPS in less than 24 hours!
So today, after a long day of prep work and office hours, I still had to do some more prep work to write a review packet for my Finite Math class. Nevertheless, I wanted to get to the bank, which had to be the further-away Educators Credit Union which was open until 18:00.
This wasn’t a problem, and afterwards I got groceries.
Getting back to my apartment and starting rice and marinating of salmon, I reached into my backpack to pick up the jump drive to resume my work with the prep…
…but the jump drive wasn’t in the backpack. It was in a USB port at the office!
So I grudgingly pedaled off to the office to finish that work…
…and now that I am done, I have to get back home and finish grading the Applied Math papers!
Whew, how annoying the OOPSes can be.
Finals Week: 6 days
ארץ ישראל: כ”ו ימים (Israel: 26 days)
אתמול היה שמונה ועשרים יום–שהם ארבעה שבועות לעומר
Today is the eighth day of the sixth round of M.A.P.L.E.: one week and one day.
My original plan yesterday was to put my bike in the car and go to St. Paul in order to bike parks and around the Mississippi River with a friend. Regrettably, she was under the weather, despite the weather being pretty-much impeccable that day. (Of course, I know what the idiom actually means :p)
My last two blog posts have, in some sense, dealt with a song that has these syllables.
Which song is that? “Love The One You’re With!”
Strangely enough, when I was chatting with Mom on Wednesday night and this song became salient, it reminded me of another implication of the song… which has NOTHING to do with love!
