[M.A.P.L.E. VII-31] The Agenda

Last year, at the end of M.A.P.L.E., I went on a hiatus from blogging, since I was on a 10-day trip to Israel and also went to Nebraska on the weekend following the Israel trip.

This year, there is no major vacation immediately after May for me, but there IS a trip at the end of June.

In fact, my summer agenda consists of the following:

  • June: After Madison, work 3 to 5 days each week at the office, doing transcription of class notes in an attempt to cull some of the paper trail.
    • The Monday after Madison will be Apartment Hunting in Eau Claire.
  • On the non-working weekdays, do something fun like go to Chicago or Milwaukee, play bridge, or go on a long bike ride.
  • June 29 to July 12: Alaska cruise with the family!
  • Upon return: Finish any lagging work transcription and begin pack-up process.
  • July 31: Move-out day!
  • August 1: Move in to Eau Claire. (Hopefully I will be allowed to move in 1 day early.)
  • Week of August 20: Eau Claire Bridge Regional.
  • August 27: New job begins!

[M.A.P.L.E. VII-29] Back on the horse

On the horse refers to the idea of continuing what you were doing when you fell off the horse.

Specifically, what I will refer to is the “horse” of academic pursuits and related activities. I wanted to chat a little bit about this, as it came up as a discussion topic today.

[M.A.P.L.E. VI-26] Madness!

Though I don’t follow college baseball as closely as I do college basketball, this year I am interested, because both of my D-I teams (Nebraska and Northwestern) are in the B1G tournament (of which only 8 of the conference’s teams participate).

Work today has hardly been productive: partially due to “May Madness,” partially due to it being a Friday, and partially for other reasons.

Take five and take ten

Five years ago, on August 27, 2011, I had a momentous Saturday. Ten years ago, on August 27, 2006, I felt the recovery from a virus, of which the previous day was among the worst days in my undergraduate years. I have already given the full journal of FIVE years ago, so wanted to make a reflection on it a-la my reflections on the Israel trip. Then, I will give the full journal of 2006’s August 27.

There will be photos from five years ago!

WARNING: This is a long post since it would be better to have it as two posts. Sorry!

Been a while!

Well, I posted on Monday and Tuesday and then Friday of last week, but toward the end of M.A.P.L.E., the posts were usually shorter and posted Mobile-Style.

It has been a whirlwind of travel and fun activity ever since May 19, and this has meant a challenging slate of M.A.P.L.E. posts and a challenge for a consistent blog presence. Such is life!
