[M.M.X.I.V. 317] 1040

Yesterday, I carpooled with a few members of the McCormick Graduate Leadership Council to go to a rehab center where Bruce, a dean of the school, is rehabilitating after an accident.  We went to see him, of course, with gifts and company.

En route, some Top 40 music was playing on the radio.  This short exchange happened:

HAYLEY: “Top 40 makes me want to dance.”

Noah mishears “Top” as “10” and does the Improv Thing partially, responding to what he thought he heard. 

NOAH: “You dance while doing your taxes?  I nearly misheard you as saying ‘1040 makes me want to dance.'”

The entire car bursts out in laughter.

Oh, how much fun Mondegreens can be, even when they are NOT associated with a song!
