[M.M.X.I.V. 53] Whoa-oh-oh-oh!

This post is based off the “Daily Prompt,” albeit from yesterday since I already had “Rule #0” lined up for Friday.

To start, the title of the post is based off the Owl City/Carly Rae Jepsen song (!!)…

(Indeed, I like this “music video” version since it was for the Northwestern basketball team.)

And that is definitely one thing that would make my day.  Honestly, sometimes I just have perfect days anyway.  Some of my biggest hobbies include Northwestern athletics, card games, and going to services.  So, what would probably be a perfect day might be this kind of schedule (and some of it is actually realistic), and interestingly it must happen on a Friday:

• Get up at 07:00 as always.

• Have breakfast and listen to the radio while just enjoying.  Read the paper, catch up on journaling, or just sit back.

• Bike toward Northbrook for bridge club for a game at 10:00.  (However, the actual game that is on Fridays starts at 11:00.  In an ideal world, I can change the time of a scheduled event!)

• Return to Evanston for a NU basketball game at 14:30.

• Relax for a little bit after that–shower and change into nicer clothes.

• Enjoy a spirited קבלת שבת (Kabbalat Shabbat) and ערבית (evening service) at Hillel, a Conservative synagogue, or an independent group such as Mishkan Chicago.

• Have a tasty chicken dinner and fun conversations either at the place of services, or somewhere else.

In some sense, I have gotten part of this on some Fridays.  The basketball game would never be at that time, but hey, I can dream!  In my own idealism, I am free to adjust the times for most activities.  Of course, I can’t choose when Shabbat begins, so even though that is an activity in an ideal day, there is a constraint on that!

Does it say something about how content I am in general if most of these “ideal” activities are things that I would do anyway?  Or is it lack of ambition in sticking with what is “ordinary” to me?
