[M.A.P.L.E. XIII-22] Charades

There are several fictional cases of charades besides Bluey that stock out in my mind, and a few of them are from the “Frozen” universe. Let me elaborate on two Frozen and two for real life charades games.

In “Frozen II”, there is a game of charades that involves difficulty for Anna & Elsa, but goes easily for Kristoff & Olaf… though Anna protested that Olaf shouldn’t get to rearrange himself as a snowman. I found this part funny, especially with the rearranging making it too easy!

In “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure,” Olaf… goes on aan adventure to look for holiday traditions since Anna and Elsa claimed to have none. The adventure in the woods mirrors the first Frozen movie, complete with sled falling off a cliff.

Near the climax, Sven comes back to the castle, and as Kristoff is making his Flemmy stew, Sven does charades (he’s a reindeer and doesn’t speak, after all!) to try to get Kristoff to realize that Olaf was lost and in trouble. This time, Anna and Elsa figure it out while Kristoff is stumped!

Real life charades. In the 80s, there was a game show called “Body Language,” which was very similar to Password Plus with the passwords being clued, but by gestures instead of words. Each round had a puzzle with blanks filled in with correct guesses, and the guesser then had to guess the solution to the puzzle. I didn’t watch this show nearly as often as other game shows.

And as for me, Samantha can tell you that I am awful at the guessing part of charades. As reading nonverbal cues is tough for me, it is not surprising that charades is not my game!
