Let this be a free write based on the word “doctor.”
There are so many different types of people who call themselves Doctor. All of them should have earnt a doctorate degree, but I’ve heard some use the title without a degree.
I’m guessing that the most common interpretation of Doctor is a physician. Interestingly, though, the origin of the word is a word in Latin meaning to teach.
Thus, Doctor might be better applied to any teaching positions more than it would apply to healing positions!
Nevertheless, the use of the language is so ingrained in us to associate doctors with healers. Yet, I bet that there is backlash against doctorates who practice alternative medicine calling themselves Doctor.
The evolution of language is fascinating!
